TCF Canada Test Centres: How Booking, Dates, Formats, and Fees Actually Work

Find an approved TCF Canada centre, verify its sessions, compare complete candidate fees, and ask the right questions before paying or travelling.

Materially updated

There is no single worldwide TCF Canada booking page, session calendar, or candidate price. FEI authorizes approved centres to organize sessions throughout the year according to their capacity, and tells candidates to contact a centre directly for dates, registration, location, paper-or-computer format, and cost. The reliable workflow is therefore: verify the centre in FEI's directory, confirm that it offers TCF Canada, obtain the complete terms in writing, and only then pay or arrange travel.

Who controls each part of a TCF Canada booking?

The safest source for each booking question
Question Controlling source What to verify
Is this an approved TCF centre? FEI's official exam-centre directory Centre name, city, contact details, website, and current listing
Does it offer TCF Canada on my date? The approved centre Exact TCF version, session date, registration deadline, and remaining capacity
Is the session on paper or computer? The approved centre Delivery format for that specific session, not a general website badge
What will I pay? The approved centre Full four-skill candidate total, currency, taxes, and any clearly disclosed administration charge
What does my immigration program require? IRCC or the relevant receiving authority Accepted test, required NCLC by ability, and result-validity checkpoints

Step 1: use FEI's approved-centre directory

Start with the official FEI exam-centre directory filtered for TCF. Select the relevant country and inspect the centre's entry. Depending on the listing, FEI may show contact details, a website, an address, and whether computer sessions are an available option.

Do not stop at a search-engine result, social-media advertisement, or copied list. Centre participation and contact details can change. The FEI directory is the primary verification step.

An approved TCF centre may administer more than one TCF version, and its available versions can vary by session. Your message should say TCF Canada, not merely “TCF.” TCF tout public, TCF Québec, and TCF Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité have different purposes and formats.

Step 2: ask for the exact session details

FEI says TCF Canada sessions are organized throughout the year, but centres organize them according to their capacity. “Throughout the year” does not mean every centre runs a session every week or that a seat remains available until test day.

Ask the centre to confirm all of these points together:

  • the session is TCF Canada;
  • the test date and any separate reporting time;
  • the registration deadline and whether a seat is actually available;
  • whether that session is delivered on paper or computer;
  • the test location, including whether speaking is scheduled at a different time;
  • the identity document and photograph procedure;
  • how candidate information must match the identity document;
  • the full candidate fee, currency, taxes, and accepted payment method;
  • the centre's cancellation, transfer, absence, and refund terms;
  • how result access works for the session, including any TCF-Candidat account instructions.

FEI's current Candidate Manual says candidates must present valid photo identification and comply with the session instructions. The centre can tell you what it accepts for registration and what to bring on test day. Resolve spelling, name order, date-of-birth, or document questions before the registration is finalized.

Step 3: compare fees without comparing the wrong package

The FEI candidate page does not publish one universal retail price for TCF Canada. It directs candidates to the approved centre for the cost. That means a trustworthy price comparison must use current written quotes for the same thing.

Questions that make two candidate-fee quotes comparable
Check Why it matters
Is this the total for all four mandatory TCF Canada tests? A partial, deposit-only, or different TCF-version figure is not comparable.
What currency is quoted? The same number can represent a very different cost across currencies.
Are taxes and administration charges included? A low headline can become a higher checkout total.
What happens if the centre changes the date? You need the centre's written transfer or refund terms, especially if travel is involved.
What happens if the candidate cannot attend? Absence, medical evidence, transfer, and refund rules may be conditional and deadline-based.
How will I access the issued result? The current candidate manual refers to TCF-Candidat or the centre; confirm the instructions attached to this session.

Do not rely on a price copied into an old blog post. Even if it was once accurate for one centre, it does not establish today's price at another centre.

Paper or computer: confirm the individual session

FEI says TCF Canada can be taken on paper or computer, and tells candidates to obtain the delivery format from the approved centre. A centre directory entry may indicate that computer sessions are possible, but that does not prove your chosen date uses a computer.

The official TCF Canada structure still contains the same four mandatory abilities. Your practical preparation can account for the confirmed medium:

  • for a paper session, practise reading instructions carefully, transferring answers as directed, and producing legible writing;
  • for a computer session, practise sustained on-screen reading and accurate keyboard input in French;
  • for either medium, train the official timing and one-play listening constraint;
  • follow the centre's instructions rather than importing procedures from another provider or TCF version.

Booking a retake

At this fact check, FEI requires 20 days between two sittings of the same TCF version. The rule does not create a seat for you. Ask the centre to check the proposed date against your previous sitting and its current availability.

Use the companion TCF Canada results, validity, and retake guide to keep the 15-working-day result clock, two-year validity clock, and 20-day retake interval separate.

If you need testing accommodations

FEI publishes a dedicated process for candidates who need disability-related arrangements and instructs candidates to work with the test centre. Contact the centre well before your intended session and use the current FEI candidate manual and accommodation page for the evidence and lead time that apply. Do not assume an ordinary registration automatically creates an accommodation.

A copyable message to a TCF Canada centre

Subject: TCF Canada session details for [month/year]

Bonjour,

I would like to register for TCF Canada. Could you please confirm:

  1. your next available TCF Canada date and registration deadline;
  2. whether a seat is currently available;
  3. whether that session is on paper or computer;
  4. the time and full test address;
  5. the complete candidate fee, currency, taxes, and payment method;
  6. the identity documents and candidate details required for registration;
  7. your cancellation, transfer, absence, and refund terms;
  8. how candidates access their result, including any TCF-Candidat account instructions.

[If applicable:] My previous TCF Canada sitting was on [date]. Please confirm that this session satisfies FEI's current interval between sittings.

Merci.

Keep the reply, receipt, and session confirmation together. If the centre's answer is ambiguous about the TCF version, ask again before paying.

Prepare after the booking is confirmed

A confirmed date turns vague preparation into a calendar. Read the four-section TCF Canada format guide, inspect FEI's official examples, and calculate your target using the current TCF Canada NCLC score chart.

For the comprehension sections, use the InfinLume TCF Canada practice hub for independent reading and listening papers. The material is not an FEI exam, and an InfinLume practice result is not an official TCF or NCLC result.
