TCF Canada writing practice.
One task at a time.
Expression écrite has three tasks in 60 minutes. Each one gets its own trainer, built on the prompts candidates reported. Task 1 is open; the others follow.
The three tasks
60 minutes in all, in order
Task 1 le message
60 to 120 words to a friend, a group or a stranger: an invitation, practical information, news, a recommendation. From single sentences to the full timed task in five rungs, with 119 real prompts and 106 blocks.

Start Task 1Task 2 raconter une expérience
120 to 150 words for readers who were not there: a blog, a forum, a message to friends. Recount, evaluate, recommend.
Task 3 synthèse et avis
Two short documents to compare in your own words (40 to 60 words), then your position (80 to 120 words).
How a task is taught
Five rungs, one chapter per message job
- Blocks
An English cue, you type the French sentence. Perfect clears it; a slip of one accent puts it back a few sentences later, with the letter shown.
- Swaps
The same frame with a new register, number or detail: tu to vous, à + le to au, a new date, a new price.
- Pairs
Two or three sentences from one brief, linked with car, puis, même si, si + present then future.
- Half-letters
A real prompt and a plan. The greeting and the sign-off are given; you write the body and get a report.
- The full task
Twelve minutes, 60 to 120 words, the exam's on-screen accents, then the report and a model answer.
